Langloisia setosissima var. punctata is a member of the Phlox Family; the common name is lilac sunbonnet. This colorful annual desert flower has leaves tipped with sharp bristles. With enough moisture the desert blooms again after the spring rains. Between the fascinating dark purple and yellow markings, and the white background, these small flowers are a pretty sight on the desert floor.
