Cylindropuntia echinocarpa 124 (IMG_3792)

Chollas can be a real pain, especially if you happen to bump up against one. If you are walking in the deserts around Las Vegas and see a cholla, it will most likely be this plant – the golden cholla. They typically form compact spiny shrubs. Some of these plants have silver spines, it is still the same species, Cylindropuntia echinocarpa. The flowers are variable in color as well.
